Explore our herbarium


The herbarium of Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (IAN) was created in 1945 by the botanists João Murça Pires e William Archer. The collection is an important resource for the Amazônia, with over 180,000 specimens, a superb xylarium with at least 8000 wood samples and a large collection of fruits, fried and in spirit. The herbarium has about 2000 type specimens and an extensive library of photo-types. Read more...
